Hailey and Sarah’s vibrant August wedding at the Eddie Manderville Chalet in Theodore Wirth Park was nothing short of a neon dream. As LGBTQIA+ wedding photographers based in Minneapolis, we’ve had the honor of documenting so many beautiful queer love stories; this one was a celebration of color, individuality, and pure joy from start to finish.
Hailey wore a hand-embroidered wedding suit—crafted with intention, creativity, and personality in every stitch—while Sarah stunned in a beaded, brightly colored gown adorned with beads from her grandmother, hand-sewn (AND MADE) with care by her and one of Hailey’s talented friends. It was a wedding full of meaning and unapologetic self-expression, set against the natural beauty of Theodore Wirth Park. Everyone showed up in vibrant colors (we may have forgotten and arrived in black, which is our usual go-to to avoid color casting on our subjects, but it helped us blend in and stay invisible behind the lens).
It was one of the most visually stunning queer weddings we’ve ever had the joy to capture in the Twin Cities. More importantly, it was a beautiful reminder that you don’t have to follow traditions just because they exist.
