The Process

01.

Book a session

We begin our journey by you booking a session! We will discuss date, time, location and the look & feel of the session.

02.

Have Fun

When the date of your session arrives we need to remember to have fun! You'll take the best images when you look and feel like yourself.

You can always bring a friend or your dog if it makes you more comfortable!

03.

Editing Magic

This happens after every session. I upload all the images we took that day and remove all the blurry, blinking and unflattering photos that happen naturally in any session.

Then I apply a coloring edit, make sure the lighting is even and fix anything that distracts from your images.

04.

Receive Images

After a few days or a few weeks depending on the agreed upon turn around time, you'll receive your images in a digital album that you can download and print at your own leisure!

FAQ

How many pictures will we receive?

Ah yes, the age-old question: "But how many photos do we get?"

The honest answer is... it depends! Every session is a little different, because every human is different. A cozy family session with lots of snuggles and candids will produce a different number of images than an engagement session with three outfits, two locations, a dog, a stop for ice cream, and a spontaneous dance party.

As a general rule, I typically deliver around 100 images per hour of shooting time, but that number can swing up or down depending on how much we're packing into our time together. Things like outfit changes, location changes, large group combinations, activities, pets, weather, and whether we're chasing toddlers or photographing adults who actually stay where I put them all play a role.

At the end of the day, I don't count images. I tell stories. If a photograph adds to your story, you'll receive it. If it doesn't, I won't make you sort through duplicates just to inflate a gallery number. My goal is to deliver a collection that feels complete, authentic, and full of all the moments you'll want to relive years from now.

How should we dress for our portrait session?

The short answer? Wear whatever makes you feel most like yourself.

If you put something on, look in the mirror, and think, "I feel good in this," that's probably the right choice. I'm not here to photograph a Pinterest version of you. I'm here to photograph you.

A few things to keep in mind:

- Comfort equals confidence. If you're uncomfortable in your clothes, it'll show. Wear things you can move, laugh, cuddle, and adventure in.

- Colors matter, but there are no wrong answers. Just know that colors interact differently with different locations, and some colors can reflect onto your skin. If you're unsure, I'm happy to help!

- Coordinate, don't match. For couples and families, I recommend choosing outfits that complement one another rather than looking identical.

- Accessories add personality. Hats, jewelry, jackets, scarves, funky glasses, sentimental heirlooms, bring them along!

- Dream big. If you want to wear three different plaids, a ballgown, your favorite band tee, or a vintage suit, let's embrace it and choose a location that feels just as uniquely you.

For little ones, bring at least one or two backup outfits. Grass, sand, snacks, and toddlers have a way of keeping us humble.

What’s the best time to have a session with a newborn?

I specialize in intimate family sessions that can include your newborn baby. My focus is capturing the special bond between the parents and children.

I prefer to photograph babies after 10 days old, and give mom some much needed rest before a family session!

This may look a little different than the stylized shoots you may have seen of newborns in heavily propped settings. To check out examples of my baby sessions please head over to my portfolio tab and click on Maternity and Children.

I don’t feel very confident in front of the camera, is that ok?

Of course! I completely understand that being in front of a camera can be nerve-wracking for some people. However, I want to assure you that you are in safe hands. I have extensive experience in making my clients feel comfortable and confident in front of the camera, and I will do everything in my power to help you relax and enjoy the experience.

Your portrait session will be a fun and enjoyable experience, and I promise that you will love the final results. My goal is to capture the real you, in a way that is natural, beautiful, and most importantly, true to who you are. I will guide you through every step of the process and provide you with posing and expression tips to help you feel confident and at ease.

So, take a deep breath and let's create something amazing together!

What location should I pick for my portraits?

When choosing a location for your portrait session, there are several factors to consider. Here are some of the most important ones:

Light: Usually clients ask to shoot in the middle of the day because it works best for their schedule. Lighting can work at any time of the day and yet if it's a super sunny day and you want to shoot in an open field I will suggest an earlier or later time of day for more even lighting and less chance of harsh shadows and squinting.

We can get around this by doing an indoor session, maybe at home or an airbnb or an event space. Permits are required in a lot of public places so make sure to check on that before asking to do a session there as I will not pay for permits for your session.

Proximity: Choose a location that is conveniently located for you (and your family if a group session). I can always scout out any location to see if it will work for you!

Season: We can shoot in all kinds of weather! Rainy or overcast days can create amazing even lighting, we just might need to be flexible on timing. Same goes for winter sessions, the colder it is outside the worse it is on my camera so we might need to run in and out of a shelter to keep everyone and my camera warm!

Ultimately, the best location for your portrait session will depend on your specific needs and preferences. Consider the type of portrait you're looking to have, the number of subjects, and any specific requests or preferences you may have, and work with me to choose a location that is perfect for your shoot.

Should I come prepared with poses I like?

Absolutely!

Send me your Pinterest board. Send me screenshots. Send me a single blurry image you saved from Tumblr in 2014 and have been emotionally attached to ever since. I want to see it all.

Inspiration photos are incredibly helpful because they show me what you're drawn to. Maybe it's a certain mood, a pose, a color palette, a location, or maybe it's just the fact that the couple in the photo has three dogs and one of them is wearing sunglasses. All of that helps me understand your vision.

That said, I'm not here to recreate someone else's photos shot-for-shot. You're different people, with a different story, in a different place, with different lighting (and hopefully fewer sunglasses-wearing dogs, unless that's your thing).

My job is to take the things you love and blend them with my experience, your personalities, and whatever chaos, magic, laughter, weather, pets, children, or unexpected adventures show up that day.

Think of it this way: your inspiration photos are the recipe. I'm the cook who inevitably adds a little extra garlic because I want to.

The end result should feel like you, not a copy of someone else.

Do I have to pay upfront to book?

I appreciate your interest in booking a portrait session with me.

To secure your portrait session, I require a 25% non-refundable down payment of the overall session price. This down payment will go towards your total cost, and it secures your session date and time. This is a common practice in the photography industry, as it helps to ensure that the client is committed to the session and that the photographer can secure the necessary resources to provide the best possible experience.

I accept PayPal, Cash or Check. Once I receive your down payment, I will send you a confirmation email that includes all the details of your session, including the date, time, and location we agreed on beforehand.

I understand that unexpected circumstances can arise, and I am happy to work with you to reschedule your session if needed. However, please note that the 25% down payment is non-refundable and cannot be returned.

If you have any questions or concerns about this policy, please don't hesitate to ask. I am here to make your portrait session as enjoyable and stress-free as possible, and I am always happy to help in any way I can!

* This policy is not for Weddings, just portrait sessions!
