FAQ
How many pictures will we receive?
The number of photographs a client will receive from a photo session can vary depending on several factors, including the type of session, the length of the session, and the preferences of the client.
As a photographer, my goal is to provide my clients with a comprehensive collection of images that capture the essence of their session and tell a visual story. During a typical portrait session, I may take anywhere from 50 to 100 photographs or more, depending on the specifics of the shoot.
Once the shoot is complete, I will carefully review and edit the images to select the best ones. I typically deliver anywhere from 20 to 40 final, edited images, depending on the preferences of the client. These images will be high-resolution and suitable for printing, sharing, and displaying.
It's important to note that the final number of images may vary based on the client's needs and the specific details of the session. If you have a specific request or preference, please feel free to discuss it with me, and I will do my best to accommodate your needs.
How should we dress for our portrait session?
1. The best outfits are the ones you really like and feel good about.
2. Bring several clothing options and keep it visually simple (no big stripes, polka dots, …).
3. Select clothes choices for the photo situation. Color choices are important, too. Keep in mind the situation / location that we’ll be photographing since you wouldn’t want to wear green when you’re at a park where it’s mostly green grass and green leaf trees.
4. Coordinate your look with a special jacket or sweater, accent scarf or hat, necklace, watch, and other accessories can make a photo come to life a little more.
5. It should go unsaid, but please clean and press your clothes for any wrinkles (as needed) and transport your clothes via hangars, so there are no fold marks.
6. Babies and toddlers will need more than one outfit if we are outside and in the grass or sand. Bring at least 2 backup outfits!
I don’t feel very confident in front of the camera, is that ok?
Of course! I completely understand that being in front of a camera can be nerve-wracking for some people. However, I want to assure you that you are in safe hands. I have extensive experience in making my clients feel comfortable and confident in front of the camera, and I will do everything in my power to help you relax and enjoy the experience.
Your portrait session will be a fun and enjoyable experience, and I promise that you will love the final results. My goal is to capture the real you, in a way that is natural, beautiful, and most importantly, true to who you are. I will guide you through every step of the process and provide you with posing and expression tips to help you feel confident and at ease.
So, take a deep breath and let's create something amazing together!
What’s the best time to have a session with a newborn?
I specialize in intimate family sessions that can include your newborn baby. My focus is capturing the special bond between the parents and children.
I prefer to photograph babies after 10 days old, and give mom some much needed rest before a family session!
This may look a little different than the stylized shoots you may have seen of newborns in heavily propped settings. To check out examples of my baby sessions please head over to my portfolio tab and click on Maternity and Children.
What location should I pick for my portraits?
When choosing a location for your portrait session, there are several factors to consider. Here are some of the most important ones:
Light: Usually clients ask to shoot in the middle of the day because it works best for their schedule. Lighting can work at any time of the day and yet if it's a super sunny day and you want to shoot in an open field I will suggest an earlier or later time of day for more even lighting and less chance of harsh shadows and squinting.
We can get around this by doing an indoor session, maybe at home or an airbnb or an event space. Permits are required in a lot of public places so make sure to check on that before asking to do a session there as I will not pay for permits for your session.
Background: We should pick a location with a simple, uncluttered background that will complement, rather than compete, with your portrait session.
Proximity: Choose a location that is conveniently located for you (and your family if a group session). I can always scout out any location to see if it will work for you!
Season: We can shoot in all kinds of weather! Rainy or overcast days can create amazing even lighting, we just might need to be flexible on timing. Same goes for winter sessions, the colder it is outside the worse it is on my camera so we might need to run in and out of a shelter to keep everyone and my camera warm!
Ultimately, the best location for your portrait session will depend on your specific needs and preferences. Consider the type of portrait you're looking to have, the number of subjects, and any specific requests or preferences you may have, and work with me to choose a location that is perfect for your shoot.
Do I have to pay upfront to book?
I appreciate your interest in booking a portrait session with me.
To secure your portrait session, I require a 25% non-refundable down payment of the overall session price. This down payment will go towards your total cost, and it secures your session date and time. This is a common practice in the photography industry, as it helps to ensure that the client is committed to the session and that the photographer can secure the necessary resources to provide the best possible experience.
I accept PayPal, Cash or Check. Once I receive your down payment, I will send you a confirmation email that includes all the details of your session, including the date, time, and location we agreed on beforehand.
I understand that unexpected circumstances can arise, and I am happy to work with you to reschedule your session if needed. However, please note that the 25% down payment is non-refundable and cannot be returned.
If you have any questions or concerns about this policy, please don't hesitate to ask. I am here to make your portrait session as enjoyable and stress-free as possible, and I am always happy to help in any way I can!
Should I come prepared with poses I like?
Absolutely! I always encourage my clients to bring along any sample photos or pose ideas they may have. This can help me better understand your preferences and the type of portrait you're hoping to create.
At the same time, I am also a professional photographer with years of experience, and I will use my expertise to suggest poses and styles that will work with your location, the lighting and your ideas cohesively together. My goal is to create portraits that are a perfect blend of your vision and my experience and expertise.
